Lahaina Kiel
Lahaina is a young Māori entrepreneur, cultural leader, and fluent Te Reo Māori speaker, committed to empowering Indigenous youth as future leaders. As the creator of Poi Palace, Lahaina’s entrepreneurial journey began with a dedication to preserving her cultural heritage and sharing the art of poi. A member of the inaugural Native Nations United youth cross-cultural exchange between Aotearoa and Victoria, Australia, this experience has inspired her to stand in her light and change the world! Now working at Te Puia, Lahaina’s vision is to inspire positive change, combining entrepreneurship with her passion for cultural education and leadership, with a focus on the power of Indigenous youth in shaping the future. Her future goal is to study at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Hawaii and perform at the Polynesian Cultural Centre, furthering her expertise in the art of poi, regenerative and indigenous environmental practises, and expanding her cultural reach and exchange between future indigenous youth leaders.
