Lyn Lewis-Smith is CEO of BESydney and leads a global team of professionals spanning Europe, North America and Asia who are charged with securing global meetings of strategic, economic and social benefit to Sydney, Australia. The organisation works across the following sectors: infrastructure, green energy, environment, technology, professional services, advanced manufacturing, education and health.
Lyn has led transformation globally, passionately advocating for Australian business, scientific and cultural achievements on the world stage. She received Destination Internationals Humanitarian Award for her co-published research with the UTS Business School into the social legacies of hosting international business events: Determining Business Events Legacies beyond the Tourism spend.
In 2010, BESydney established its Global Ambassador Program https://www.besydney.com.au/about-us/global-ambassadors/, working alongside international leaders, innovators and visionaries to help attract global meetings to Sydney.
Lyn’s executive leadership experience spans financial services, resources, transport, tourism, major events and sport.
An experienced non-executive director in chair and member roles on boards and committees, Lyn is a Fellow of the UTS, Adjunct Professor and Co-chair of the UTS Business School, NED Committee for Sydney, the Women’s Resilience Centre and Destinations International (Co-chairs the International Leadership Committee).
She is a visionary and strategic thinker who has led transformation to accelerate growth. She demonstrates a strong track record of leading complex business models specialising in digital and agile transformation. She has expertise in governance, public policy, strategy, stakeholder engagement, international market development, brand, and marketing.
Lyn is a strong advocate for the advancement and professional development of women in all facets of leadership. In 2018, she Co-chaired the Global Summit of Women held in Sydney and is a Women in Leadership Ambassador for the UTS, Minerva Network Mentor and a member of CEW and IWFA.
