Meet the AIME Team: Gabrielle Mckeown

13 October 2020 •

Over the last few months, the AIME team have been giving you all a little insight into their iso lives behind the “screens” at home. We may have taken a break for a while, but we have one final team member for you to get to know! Welcoming (back) Gabrielle Mckeown who has moved into a brand new role as Event Sales – Australia. You may already know (and love) Gab from AIME 2019 and 2020, where she went above and beyond as Event Coordinator. Gab’s fun-loving and energetic nature will be sure to brighten up anyone’s day. She is an invaluable part of the AIME team and looks forward to delivering another amazing AIME in 2021.

  1. Why do you love events?
There’s something about watching all of your hard work come together and collaborating closely with a team that made me fall in love with events. I love the feeling of bumping in when you are stressed but also very excited of what the days ahead will bring.
  2. What is your favourite destination in the world?
Where I grew up, Fairhaven in Victoria. It is where I learnt to swim and read the ocean. I have so many fond memories of spending hours in the water with friends and now even fonder memories of spending the day on the beach and heading up to the surf club for a drink to watch the sunset.
  3. What is the last book you read?
Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo.
  4. What three words best describes you?
Enthusiastic, Friendly and Witty. (Can you say those things about yourself? Well I just did)
  5. What have you learnt this year?
    How to adapt!
  6. What is a fact about you that surprises people?
I was the voice of the Australian Open in 2018. I did the announcing at the gates and unfortunately knew nothing about tennis and mispronounced nearly every name…
  7. What are your daily simple pleasures during these isolated times?
Cooking a nice meal with my housemates, it has become very competitive each night and adds a bit of fun into the day.
  8. What are you looking forward to most when isolation is over?
Being able to hug my friends!
