We spoke to MCI Australia Account Director and 2024 AIMEbassador Maggie Diasinos for her insights on how to make the most of  AIME. The place where industry decision-makers connect, create, and do business – “where the world meets in Asia-Pacific”.

Why do you choose to attend AIME each year?

“I attend AIME each year to meet with suppliers across Asia Pacific to discuss new destinations and event trends. It is where I find inspiration for new programs and make new connections in the industry,” she says.

Attending AIME provides an opportunity to meet with suppliers, check out the latest trends, and find new ideas. Whether you are a seasoned event professional or just starting out in the industry, you can benefit from the experience and knowledge shared by experts at AIME.

What’s been the biggest change to the business events industry in your career?

“The increase in demand for people to meet and reward their teams has led to huge growth and event demand for the industry. The biggest challenge is sustaining this growth with a reduced workforce across the event supply network,” Maggie says. 

The industry has experienced significant growth over the years, with many people recognizing the value of events as a way to meet, network, and reward their teams. However, the challenge is to keep up with the demand while facing issues such as a reduced workforce across the event supply network.

What are you most looking forward to at AIME 2024?

“I am most looking forward to making new connections at AIME and learning something new from my time at the tradeshow. AIME is a great tradeshow to showcase new products and for the business events industry to be inspired on how we can design new programs for our clients to experience,” she says.

What is your top tip for making the most of your time at AIME?

“My top tip is to never let an opportunity to connect with the industry pass you by. You never know who you will meet at the Welcome Event, in a business session or on the show floor. I have made lifelong industry friendships at AIME who have inspired both my personal and professional development.”

What is your top tip for first-time visitors to Melbourne? 

Melbourne is one of my most favourite cities in the world. Take the time  to immerse yourself in the food and wine culture. If you love good coffee (like me!), wander around Melbourne before the tradeshow to discover your new favourite barista. I have found some incredible new businesses by wandering the laneways of Melbourne.
